Summer Soulstice +2 Soul 2025 Tournament Report
Good evening from the Ohio Weiss Schwarz Group! This is Melanie Lynette here with a tournament report summary of the amazing sequel “Summer Soulstice 2025: +2 Soulstice”. It was an amazing Weiss packed weekend with 77 players from 1 different country and 13 other states across 3 tournament events. It was wonderful to get the chance to meet and interact with so many amazing players! We all hope you had an amazing weekend!
Travel Locations Data:

Notes: Not all players shared location, so some are unaccounted for. 2 players count twice for two different states due to college/military placements.
Saturday kicked off with a 66 person, best of 1, 35 minute round Swiss tournament. Players were allowed to use English or Japanese side of the game decks following the Japanese Ban List (English Exclusives followed the English Ban List). About 30 unique Weiss Schwarz titles were featured in the event.

Due to the resolutions between Pair Up/Pair Down matches we ended up with one undefeated and a clear Top 8 at the end of Round 6.
After a meal break, we reconvened for an untimed, single elimination, Top 8:

Congratulations to all of our amazing Top 8 players!

Sunday we continued our celebration with two additional events. We had 69 players in 23 teams participate in a trios event. With the help of our own tournament organizer Aaron, Jason from SBTCG, and Carmen, they put together a Japanese Points ranking list for team creation. For those of you unfamiliar with this, in Japan for some trios events they have started implementing a 5 point limit for teams to encourage diversity. Each team gets 5 points, and their sets across the 3 players can’t exceed 5 points. This is in addition to team members not being allowed to double up on series titles. Here is the points list we used for this event: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1v-B98GeULCwX30pLzuV48HtSFzD-UyaxIKEadcZPXQ8/edit?usp=sharing (*Note: For Trios we did allow Rose and Blau decks at 0 points.)

This system actually led to a very diverse trios format with about 47 Weiss Schwarz Titles featured:

After 5 Rounds of Best of 1, 35 minute rounds, Swiss with Team reporting win or loss in BushiNavi (similar to Summer Fest Trios), we had one undefeated team and after a meal break, we proceeded to Top 4 for trios:

Congratulations to all of our amazing Top 4 Teams!

Our second event on Sunday was the most time honored tradition of all Weiss Schwarz events: The Waifu Tournament. It is tricky to decide on rules for waifu events these days, so I’m sharing our rule set here to help players better understand the decklists used. (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1F1BuZ31MYAwMuHGjne07xnGJaAyfMRG_Nna1MfkAa9w/edit?usp=sharing) Players set up amazing shrines and got into the spirit of the event with cosplays also! We had 41 players representing 37 different waifus. It was so neat to see so many players representing their commitment to their favorites!
Summer Soulstice 2025: +2 Soulstice Waifu Set & Character Representation:

41 players played Best of 1, Swiss, 35 minute rounds. The event, which had a much larger turnout than expected (Yay!!!), was originally advertised as a Top 4 cut. However, I feel it’s important with this many players to recognize what should have been and clearly was a Top 8.
Summer Soulstice 2025: +2 Soulstice Waifu Top 8:

Due to time constraints and player agreement, Top Cut wasn’t played out. So it is agreed upon that all of the Top 4 players (and technically Top 8 due to attendance) have equal bragging rights for the event due to deciding to split. We want to thank the players for being patient with the delays that occurred in starting the event, setting up all the gorgeous character shrines, and not having enough time for a final top cut. We will definitely be making changes to make sure this doesn’t occur next year!
It should also be noted here that we had some fun side quests also occurring this weekend, including an in fun bounty on last year’s winner and two event BINGO cards for Trios and Waifu that celebrate the craziness of Weiss Schwarz. BINGO winning individuals/teams received a booster pack for their achievements!
And that concludes another amazing Summer Soulstice at Paul’s Gamerzone in Massillon, Ohio! Thank you all who came, created, and shared amazing summer memories this past weekend and supported our event. These types of events are never possible without the most important element: All of YOU, the amazing players and community we have in this game! Additional special thanks also goes out to our fearless event tournament organizers Aaron and Linsey, as well as our streamer Ben (View past streaming for the event here at RefreshPoint WS), our artist Demetri (Super Reflex), Paul’s Gamerzone and their employees for allowing us to host events outside of normal store hours, Travis for being our judge for several events, and all of the countless other community members from across the country and locally that made this weekend possible. We hope to see everyone for an improved and ever growing event!
